A Boy Giving out SMILESLessons from Jaden Hayes’ Story
This is one of the best examples of something being done to Make Someone’s Day, and it’s being done by a 6 year old.
Earlier this month CBS News USA interviewed a little boy recently orphaned by his mother. Jaden Hayes, who at age 4 lost his father, just lost his mother a few months ago as she passed away in her sleep. And yet Jaden is determined to spread light and create more joy in the world.
“I’m trying to make people smile,” Jaden said. And so he does.
In downtown Savannah Georgia, Jaden, who asked his aunt to buy a bunch of little toys, has spent hours passing out small gifts to strangers for free and saying things like, “This is just something to make you smile”. He likes to give away rubber ducks and small dinosaurs. His goal, according to the CBS interview, is to make 30,000 people smile.
Over 200,000 people have watched his news clip. It is impossible to watch it without smiling.
Lessons For Us All
Jaden’s story is chocked full of lessons that apply to all of us both inside and outside of our workplaces, lessons about our own personal power, our capacity to overcome hardships, and our ability to Make Someone’s Day. The FISH! Philosophy shows us that even little things we do can make a difference. Through small actions meant to Make Someone’s Day we can have more fun at work, improve our relationships with co-workers, and better serve our customers. In a larger sense, we can choose happiness and live with a light heart.
